Unhappy: A North Third Street business owner told police someone stole his business Visa card and was used by the thief at least 47 times at various locations, Tuesday.

Concerned: A caller reported seeing a woman at Jim Wood Park yelling at her children, grabbing them by the arm and threatening to beat their butts and slapping their hands, Tuesday. She said the woman also grabbed a swing away from another child to put her’s on it, then nearly hit the other child with the swing, then told her older child to correct and punish her siblings. The mother in question said her children have severe attention deficit disorder and she was frustrated with them. She told police she didn’t recall snatching them up by their arms though she might have, and denied slapping or threatening them. Police said the children seemed happy.

Not paid: A North Sixth Street resident told police he found a car he wanted to buy on a used car lot, and when he didn’t have enough cash to pay for it cut a deal with the dealer to work the rest off, Tuesday. He said they got a contract to do some work at a Columbia Avenue location and were to be paid in three installments, but after getting the first installment the other man and his helper stopped showing up. He said he continued working, but the day before he was going to be done the other man called him and said the homeowner had fired him and didn’t want him to return to the property. The other man said he’d collect the tools and supplies he left behind and return them, but said the man has “been making excuses not to return his property.” He valued the tools and incidentals at around $355.

Keep going: A Colonial Drive resident refused to let her live-in boyfriend or his child into her home, Tuesday. He told police he’d been living there for months and wanted to get his belongings out of the apartment, but she wouldn’t unlock the door. She told police he kicked her car door, but officers said there was no visible damage.

Not the place: An officer on patrol spotted a man lying face down on the steps at 306 Adams St., but when he checked on him the man told him he was just sleeping. He’s been rousted from several locations in the past week and police told him he’d have to move on again.

Complained: A woman in the 1300 block of Plum Street told police she’d been arguing with a juvenile and he punched her in the face and shoved a gun in his pants before fleeing, Wednesday.

Booked: Vanessa Johnson, 29, 619 Grandview Ave., Steubenville, felonious assault, Tuesday.

Cited: Connor McCallen, 19, 1235 University Boulevard, Francis Hall 214, Steubenville, failure to control, following a one-car accident in the 3300 block of Sunset Boulevard, Monday. Police said McCallen’s vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and struck landscaping in front of a residence.

Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to the owners/occupants of properties at 1117 Park St., 1493 Foster Place, high grass/weeds; and 519 Grandview Ave., litter and junk extending into the alley.

Loud: Callers reported a woman yelling in the 3100 block of Johnson Road, Monday. Police said the woman had left the hospital and wanted a ride to Pittsburgh Street. They took her but warned her against causing any more disturbances. She flagged an officer on patrol at Sunset and Hollywood boulevards down early Tuesday, telling him she was out walking and tired and needed a ride back to her home.

Cited: Christopher Lee Battlochi, 29, 64 county Road 57, Irondale, driving under suspension; Ethan M. Sharpe, 22, 128 Reichart Ave., Wintersville, loud exhaust.

Matthew J. Allietta II, 27, 112 Vireo Drive, Wintersville, domestic violence, Monday. Allietta allegedly struck a family member in the eye with a hose nozzle, blackening her eye and causing her face to swell, deputies said. Allietta “appeared irritated and did not understand the reason for the contact” and told them there hadn’t been any physical confrontation but the individual in question “has been falling more recently” and had left the residence. Deputies said he refused to allow them to search the residence for the alleged victim without a warrant. Allietta’s mother also told deputies the alleged victim had been falling recently and claimed the individual told her multiple times she’d fallen in the shower and had not been assaulted by him, though other family members say she told them Allietta had hit her with the nozzle.
